Maternal, Infant, & Early Childhood Home Visiting Program

Providing Resources for families with children under the age of 5 

Birth to age 5 are magical years in a baby's life. Our First Visitor program provides FREE, one-on-one support for parents and caregivers in the comfort of their own home. We provide emotional support, connect parents and caregivers with free community resources, and share information on health, nutrition, safety, and important developmental milestones.

First Visitor partners with Bright by Three, a statewide organization that provides our evidence-based materials and together our purpose is to help make Colorado the best place to raise a child under the age of five.

We also offer free home visits, which include:

  • A gift for your baby/toddler
  • Information about child development
  • A key tag with age-appropriate activities
  • Connections to community resources


WIC at Peak Vista

March 27 - August 28

Throughout 2024, a WIC representative will be on site at Peak Vista's Health Center at International Circle (2828 International Cir, Ste 100, Colorado Springs), in the Alma group room. Dates are noted below, and times are from (9am -3pm). No appointment is needed, walk-ins are accepted. Any patient expecting and/or patients with kids under 5 years are welcome to meet with the WIC representative.

What is WIC?

The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children - better known as the WIC program- serves to safeguard the health of low-income pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding women, infants, and children up to age 5 who are at nutritional risk by providing nutritious foods to supplement diets, information on healthy eating including breastfeeding promotion and support, and referrals to health care.

Parenting Classes Near Colorado Springs | Parental Support & Resources 

Peak Vista Community Health Centers understands that the first five years of a baby’s life are crucial to their long-term development and overall wellbeing. That’s why we are proud to offer broad-based support to parents and caregivers of babies and toddlers that includes crucial information on how to engage with and care for your child at every stage of their development. We offer four programs: Program A, B, C and D for parents with children from the prenatal stage all the way up to age five.

First Visitor offers FREE Classes to learn more about Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) and Abusive Head Trauma (AHT) or Shaken Baby Syndrome (SBS) *Classes are offered in English/Spanish*

These classes cover prevention:

How to avoid putting young infants at risk of SIDS with a focus on behavior and environment. SBS helps you identify the signs of abuse and preventive measures to ensure your baby stays safe.

Benefits Of Home Visiting Programs

What is Included in Program A?

Program A serves parents from the prenatal stage to 12 months.

The initial contact can be made prenatally, within the first few weeks after delivery or up to 12 months after delivery. We will visit you to help celebrate the birth and welcome the baby into the community. This program provides information on post-partum blues, health, safety, childcare, community resources, health insurance, immunizations, breastfeeding, dental, car seat information, early brain development, developmental milestones, and highlights the importance of reading to children from birth.

What is Included in Program B?

For parents of children 12 to 24 months of age, this program focuses on helping parents promote and encourage language development, a process which has been shown through research to have a significant link to school readiness and learning success later in life. Materials focus on the importance of talking with, encouraging, and playing with your child and include information on ways to enhance vocabulary development and positive interactions. 

What is Included in Program C?

This program is for parents of children 24 to 36 months of age takes a holistic approach to zero in on the topics that parents and experts say matter the most for children in this age group: positive guidance, discipline, language, motor skills, cognitive, socio-emotional development, health and safety and the critical importance of the parent-child attachment

What is Included in Program D?

This newly developed program for parents of children 3 to 5 years prepare them for independence and school readiness. This next stage gives tools to continue to expand fine and gross motor skills, enhance language and social-emotional development needed to socialize and interact with peers and tips on health and safety.

What is Included in The Bright By Three Program?

Bright By Three offers free activities, games and resources for parents and caregivers tailored to your child’s age, (Bright By Three text messaging focuses on ages prenatal to age three). Messages include information about local resources and events. Each text links to a landing page with more information including short activity videos and related books.
