CARE Fair is an exciting, one-day, back-to-school event which serves families who are uninsured or underinsured in Colorado Springs and the surrounding areas. Children receive, at no cost, the following services: immunizations and physicals; dental screenings, hearing and vision tests, haircuts and diabetes screenings. In addition, backpacks and school supplies are offered to help kids get ready for the upcoming school year. There are also various community agencies on hand to distribute information intended to help support parents raising children.

Peak Vista Community Health Centers provides the location and some of the providers and volunteers while Junior League of Colorado Springs provides additional volunteers to staff the event. More than 500 children receive services that day.

CARE Fair addresses one of the most important community needs in Colorado Springs. With nearly 180,000 children without health insurance coverage in Colorado, the Junior League of Colorado Springs felt a mandate to act. Therefore, the JLCS launched CARE Fair. It has been highly successful in not only caring for children the day of the event, but also in helping families find affordable medical homes.
