East Central Region
Colorado's East Central region is home to rolling prairie, rich history and rural hospitality. Strasburg, Kiowa, Limon and Flagler are all vibrant and vigorous agricultural centers and are located in the midst of unique grasslands that support abundant wildlife. Historical venues mark the area, with a focus on Native Americans and nineteenth century homesteading and ranching. Here, you can plug in or power down at your own pace. Across our great growing communities, there are so many beautiful and interesting things to do—right out your back door.
Approaching Denver from the east, you will find beautiful Strasburg. Here, you'll find several recreational facilities within a drive from town, including the Aurora Reservoir and Barr Lake State Park, both ideal areas for fishing, camping and boating.
Kiowa is a scenic rural town found within an hour’s drive from Denver. The wide-open spaces make it a perfect place for outdoor activity, from camping and hunting to wildlife watching. Throughout the year, you can see more types of birds in this region than any other in North America
The charming town of Limon features beautifully landscaped streets with boutiques, antique shops and city park. A strong sense of community is founded upon a shared love for the Plains' scenic countryside and abundant sunshine.
Colorado's East Central are home to some of the nation's last remaining short-grass prairie. In Flagler, you'll find just this. Located at Exit 395 on I-70, you are only 120 miles east of Denver and Colorado Springs. The beautiful town offers plenty to do, whether it is playing golf, enjoying the parks, shopping downtown or visiting our historical community.
